Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Man and a Van Tooting has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within our business and our supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect human rights and are fully committed to improving our practices to combat modern slavery in all its forms.
Modern slavery includes slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We acknowledge that the transport, logistics and relocation sectors can be exposed to heightened risks, particularly in relation to agency labour, subcontracted drivers, and outsourced services. We take these risks seriously and work proactively to identify, prevent and address them.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man and a Van Tooting has a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not tolerate any form of exploitation within our own operations or our supply chains. All workers must be engaged on a voluntary basis, with fair pay, safe working conditions, and respect for their legal rights.
Our zero-tolerance stance is communicated to all employees, contractors, and suppliers as a core element of how we do business. Any breach of this policy is treated as a serious disciplinary matter that may result in termination of employment or the ending of a commercial relationship.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Audits
Our supply chains include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, packaging and equipment providers, cleaning services, and occasional labour agencies or subcontractors. We aim to work only with reputable suppliers who share our commitment to ethical conduct and respect for human rights.
As part of our due diligence process, we assess new suppliers against our ethical expectations, including their own policies on modern slavery and labour standards. Where appropriate, we require confirmation that suppliers comply with all applicable labour and human rights laws.
We reserve the right to conduct supplier audits, either directly or through third parties, to verify compliance. These audits may include site visits, requests for documentation relating to worker terms and conditions, and interviews with relevant personnel. If concerns are identified, we expect prompt corrective action and may suspend or end relationships where issues are not adequately addressed.
Employee Awareness, Training and Conduct
We promote awareness of modern slavery risks among our team, particularly managers and those involved in procurement, recruitment and supplier management. Employees are expected to act with integrity, to recognise potential indicators of exploitation, and to escalate any concerns without delay.
Our internal standards require that all staff are paid at least the legal minimum wage for all hours worked, receive appropriate rest breaks, and work only within lawful limits. We do not charge recruitment fees and we do not retain worker identity documents. We support the right of workers to leave employment with reasonable notice and without penalty.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Man and a Van Tooting encourages anyone who has concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected with our business to report them. Concerns can be raised confidentially to a line manager or a senior member of the management team. We will take all reports seriously and investigate them promptly and sensitively.
We are committed to ensuring that no person who raises a concern in good faith suffers any form of retaliation, victimisation or disadvantage. Where credible concerns are substantiated, we will take appropriate remedial and disciplinary action and, where necessary, work with relevant authorities.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to continuous improvement of our policies, procedures and practices so that risks are identified early and addressed effectively.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by the management of Man and a Van Tooting, or more frequently if required by changes in law, guidance or our operations. The review will consider the effectiveness of our actions, feedback from employees and suppliers, and any incidents or concerns raised during the year.
Following each review, we will update our approach where necessary, strengthen controls, and communicate any significant changes to staff and suppliers. This Statement has been approved by the management of Man and a Van Tooting and reflects our ongoing commitment to operating responsibly, ethically and with full respect for human dignity.
